Kennett Fire Company, Avondale Fire Company, and Longwood Fire Company responded to a reported house fire on the 100 block of East Cedar St. in Kennett Square Borough at 12:30 a.m. Chief 24 arrived on scene to house occupants evacuated and accompanied by Kennett PD. Reporting party stated they had a light smokey haze in the house with a burning smell coming from around the outlets in the living room. Fire Company found two outlets with burn marks in the living room. Occupants stated there were appliances plugged into these outlets and removed immediately upon seeing smoke coming from them.
While the final definitive cause remains under investigation, it is important to remember not to over load your outlets!
