Remember to Remove Snow from your Local Fire Hydrant!

By Ambulance Lieutenant Doug Rivell
February 8, 2010

As round two of snow storms quickly approaches the area forecasters are calling of an additional 12 to 18 inches of snow on top of the 20+ inches of the snow that has hit our area in the past 48 hours. The Kennett Fire Company No. 1 is asking everyone to please remember your local fire hydrant. Fire hydrants are essential to supplying water to fire apparatus when a fire occurs. Our fire hydrants are buried from snowfall, plowing and the shoveling of sidewalks and driveways. If you know of a neighbor or friend that needs your help, make sure their's is clear as well.

Please consider digging out a fire hydrant if it is buried as well as clearing a 3 foot area around it. Should your fire company need the fire hydrant, it being dug out can save critical time when it matters most.
