Kennett Fire Company was dispatched to 200 E Linden St at approximately 10:20 pm on New Years Eve for a Structure fire.
Chief 24 arrived to find heavy smoke showing with fire starting in basement and spreading throughout residence. First engine arriving, Engine 24-1 hooked up to hydrant in front of residence and crew began initial fire attack in basement. Neighboring crews were dispatched to assist and upon arrival were sent in to attack fire on the remaining floors of residence. 8 mutual aid companies were brought into scene including crews from Delaware and Lancaster Counties.

Due to the type of construction of the house, extensive overhaul was necessary to ensure the fire was completely out. Overhaul is a process where crews have to remove the wall and ceiling materials to check for fire and extension behind. Older buildings tend to take far more overhaul and are very manpower intensive. Thanks to all of our neighboring companies for spending the New Year assisting us and the Kennett Square residents.
