Kennett Township Board of Supervisors approved changing the intersections of Bayard and Hillendale Roads and Hillendale and McFarlan Roads to 4-way stop intersections. Their main concern is to ensure the safety and welfare of all motorists traveling through Kennett Township. The impetus for the new 4-way stops were accidents and in general lack of site distance when crossing Hillendale Road at both intersections. The Township tried to make numerous changes to improve the site distance prior to creating 4-way stops; including removing trees.

The Township had two (2) traffic studies done, which called for these two intersections to be changed to 4-way stops. The Chief of Police and Public Works Director/Roadmaster both supported the 4-way stop intersections due to safety concerns.

The stop signs have been installed including advanced warning signs with flashers to inform the motorists.

Please pay attention when approaching these intersections. Since they are new 4-way stops some motorists will not be aware and therefore, may not stop. We ask that you pass the information around so more people become of aware of the change.

We are confident that once everyone gets acclimated with the 4-way stops it will greatly improve the intersection and assist in decreasing the number of accidents at those intersections."
