Cold Weather Safety

Brrrr! This weekend has started off with cold weather, and will only get colder. With air temperatures dropping to 3 degrees F (well below zero with wind chill; provided by NWS), Chester County emergency personnel are taking safety precautions, and you should too! Remember to dress in layers, wear a hat, and keep your extremities covered. If you are performing strenuous outdoor activities, be sure to stay dry - sweating in cold weather makes you much more susceptible to hypothermia. Pack blankets and jumper cables in your car, as the cold can hinder your car battery's performance.

If you are using a space heater, please follow these rules: 1) Keep all flammable objects away from all sides of the heater, 2) Ensure your power cord and extension cords are utilized safely and not over loaded, 3) Follow all directions provided with the heating unit.

Have a safe and enjoyable weekend!
