Each year, an average of over 140,000 fires start in our forests, grasslands and other outdoor areas destroying homes and thousands of acres of land. Don’t add fuel to the fire! Learn the best ways to prevent brush fires and how to protect your home from getting caught in the blaze.

The number one cause of wildfires in PA is due to debris burning. 83% of all wildfires in PA occur between from March-May.

Tips:
Check with your municipality prior to burning any lawn debris!
Remove all leaves, rubbish, and flammable objects from around your home, garage, or shed.
Keep stacks of firewood at least 10 feet away from your home.
Mow your lawn on a regular basis and dispose of clippings and other flammable materials in accordance to local ordinances.
Always store gasoline, propane, oily rags and other flammable materials in approved safety cans.

Unsafe actions may result in harm to life and property. There may also be financial penalties associated with illegal burning.

Be safe!
