At 7:14pm on Thursday, April 21st, while our volunteers and staff were in a training session on urban floodwater rescue, Kennett Fire Company, Longwood Fire Company, and Hockessin Fire Company were dispatched for an automobile accident with entrapment on Bucktoe Road between Sharp Road and Captain Robinson Drive in Kennett Township. It was reported that a car had crashed into a tree.

Crews arrived and confirmed the report. The car made impact with the tree in the area of the driver's door. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle. Rescue and EMS personnel immediately assessed the condition of the driver. The individual had not survived the crash.

Avondale Fire Company's ambulance provided additional assistance at the scene.

Fire Police from Kennett and Longwood Fire Companies closed Bucktoe Road until all units cleared the scene at 11:15pm.
