| On Thursday April 26, 2007 at 1911 hours the Kennett Fire Company was dispatched for Engine 24-6 and Deluge 24 to assist on the working dwelling fire with Station 23 (Avondale) in the 100 block of Chesterville Road in the Landenberg section of New Garden Township. Deputy Chief 23 had the assignment upgraded to the working fire dispatch and due to no public hydrants in the area, two additional tankers were requested. Engine 24-6 with a crew of two, and Deluge 24 with a crew of four made the response. Once on scene the crews entered the man power pool, then worked with crews from West Grove to remove siding from Side C of the structure. After the fire was brought under control crew members rolled and packed the two handlines used for the initial fire attack. It was later found a victim was entrapped inside the dwelling and was succumbed to her injuries. Crews made it back into the city at 2105 hours. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the County and State Fire Marshall's Office.
