| Pictured are the two new HME-sLE chassis which will power the twin Rosenbauer rescue/pumpers. The 52,500 lb GVW air ride chassis use a custom 3 door 24" raised roof cab with climate controlled seating for 6 firefighters and an in cab Command Center.
Power is provided by a Cummins ISM 500 horsepower engine through an Allison 4000 EVS five speed automatic transmission. Additional braking is done with a Jacobs engine brake and chassis maintenance is aided by a Vogel automatic lube system.
The chassis are currently at the Rosenbauer General Safety Division in Wyoming, Minnesota where body construction has begun. The trucks will be completed in late June and Chief Melton estimates equipment mounting and training to be completed by mid August. Rosenbauer is the World's largest manufacturer of fire apparatus and equipment and will incorporate the latest field proven technology in these units. |
