In the early hours of the morning, the Kennett Fire Company was dispatched for an automobile accident with entrapment at the intersection of North Union Street and Fairthorn Street . Initial reports came in as a vehicle into a house. Deputy 24 arrived on scene shortly after dispatch confirming entrapment with one vehicle into a wall and one patient in and out of consciousness. The vehicle was heading south bound on Union street and went through a telephone pole and sheering a fire hydrant before coming to rest into a stone wall in the south east corner of the intersection. Immediately a helicopter was placed on standby. Ambulance 24-1 and MICU 25-3 responded and on arrival of the scene, began a patient assessment. It was decided by the crews on scene to fly the helicopter. Engine 24-1 and Engine 24-2 both responded and went to work with the hydraulic rescue tools also known as the "Jaws of Life". With in a couple minutes the extrication was complete. A landing zone was secured for the arrival of Penn Star 2. The patient was loaded into the helicopter with the assistance of Kennett fire and EMS personnel. The patient was transported by Penn Star 2 to the closest trauma center.
