At 05:09 on Sunday May 3rd Kennett Fire Company was Dispatched to 1140 Kaolin road for a house fire along with New Castle Station 19 (Hockessin) and Station 23 Avondale of Chester County. Deputy 24 was the first to arrive on scene and reported a working house fire. Chief 24 arrived shortly after and assumed Kaolin Road command. At that time Chief 24 upgraded it to a working house fire with possible entrapment and added a RIT team out of West Grove and three additional tankers. NCC engine 19-3 and engine 24-1 arrived on scene at the same time, 19-3 took the driveway first followed by 24-1 who laid a 5" supply line. At that time engine 24-1 under the supervision of Captain Plumley was ordered to pull two 2" attack lines and to do a one room search. After search was completed crews were ordered to do defensive attack on the dwelling going into service with multiple attack lines.
There was a life lost in this fire. With our deepest regret, Kennett Fire Company offers our prayers and sympathy to the family.
