At 1459 Hrs on May 17th, 2009 Kennett Fire Company was dispatched for two engines and a tanker along with Po-Mar-Lin Fire Co. to assist Longwood Fire Company with a barn fire in the area of 200 Pond View Dr. Chief 23 (Guy Swift) was in the area of the fire and reported seeing a large column of smoke.
Engine crews from Kennett Station 24 assisted Longwood at the orders of Chief 25 (Matt Ruoss). Engine 24-6 supplied water to Engine 25-1 which was operating hand lines in service attacking the fire.
Thanks to the teamwork and quick efforts from all responding units the fire was placed under control 36 minutes after dispatch. Units stayed in service for a few hours doing overhaul and controlling hot spots.
