On the cold blizzard morning of February 10, 2010 at 09:08 Hours, The Kennett Fire Company and West Grove Fire Company were dispatched to assist the Avondale Fire Company (Station 23) for a reported house fire in the 1600 block of Baltimore Pike in New Garden Township. Assistant 23 was in the area and arrived on scene to find smoke showing and also confirmed a working basement fire. Engine 23-2 and Chief 23 were enroute and arrived on scene shortly after. The crew from Engine 23-2 stretched an 1-3/4" handline through the first floor door to the basement. The crew from Engine 24-2 arrived on scene and received orders to check the first floor for extension and ventilate. After the fire and multiple hot spots were extinguished, overhaul operations went into effect and units were clear at 10:42 Hours. Thanks to Avondale Fire Company and Captain Chris Plumley for photos.
