Firefighters have to constantly train to keep our skills sharp. We also have to keep learning as buildings constructed today are vastly different than those even ten years ago. Truck 1 and 2 focus on the operations and duties of our ladder trucks. Some of the primary functions of our ladder trucks include search and rescue, ventilation, overhaul, and controlling utilities. Chest County Emergency Services came to Kennett Square, where a citizen was kind enough to offer us the use of their property before tearing it down, and taught students from Kennett, Oxford, Concordville, and Westwood Fire Companies. The class was tremendous. Students learned all the functions of a truck company including cutting holes in the roof for ventilation and rescuing victims from elevated windows. Kennett Fire Company will continue to train and hone our skills to provide the best service we can to our and neighboring communities.
