17:54 Kennett, Avondale, Longwood, Hockesson, and Po-Mar-Lin fire companies were dispatched to McFarlan Road for a building fire. Report from the caller indicated fire visible through the roof of a large building. Chief 24 arrived on scene to confirm the report. Engine 24-2 arrived on scene first and pulled hand lines to the front side of the building. The fire was knocked down, but operations were quickly halted upon finding live electrical activity. PECO was immediately notified of the issue and requested to respond to secure the electricity.
As units arrived, man power began preparing tools and equipment to continue working as soon as the electricity was shut off. Upon security of the utilities, crews got to work ventilating the facility and overhauling the fire room to ensure no extension and full extinguishing of the fire.
Nobody was hurt during this incident. Cause of the fire is still under investigation through the county fire marshals.
