At 10:21am on Friday, May 13th, Kennett Fire Company, Longwood Fire Company, and Hockessin Fire Company were dispatched for a one-vehicle accident with entrapment on Kaolin Road in the area of Caldwell Lane in Kennett Township.

Units arrived to find one vehicle off the roadway and up an embankment with the driver trapped inside. Crews stabilized the vehicle and removed the driver's door to extricate the driver. The patient was removed from the vehicle, placed into a Stokes basket, and lowered down the embankment to the roadway. Longwood's EMS personnel provided medical care at the scene and transported the patient to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Blitterdorf's Towing retrieved the vehicle from the embankment and removed it from the scene.

Fire police from Kennett Fire Company and Longwood Fire Company closed Kaolin Road between Ewart Road and Chandler Mill Road during the incident.

Units cleared the scene and the roadway was reopened at 11:31am.
