At 11:38am on Saturday, February 4th, Kennett Fire Company and other mutual aid companies were dispatched to assist Longwood Fire Company at a residential fire on McCarthy Drive in Kennett Township. Police on location reported a fire in the chimney, but it was close to spreading into the home. Kennett's Engine 24, Tower 24, and fire police responded.

Tower 24 arrived and took the First Due Special assignment. The crew set up ground ladders on the front and side of the house. The crews from Tower 24 and Engine 24 assisted with overhaul and cleanup, and Kennett's fire police assisted with traffic control in the area. In the end, the fire was contained to the chimney area, sparing the rest of the house.

The last units cleared the scene around 1:45pm.
