At 8:11pm on Friday, May 16th, the Kennett Regional Fire Department and mutual aid responded to a house fire in the 200 block of Winston Lane in Pocopson Township. Kennett Fire Company's Tower 24 made the response and assumed the first due truck assignment on the Alpha side of the residence.
The crew of Tower 24 split upon arrival, with two going inside and conducting a primary search on the second floor, while the remaining two crew members deployed ground ladders to the Charlie side of the home, followed by a primary search of the first floor. Both crews completed their searches with negative results and were ordered to evacuate from the building per Command.
Once confirmed that crews were evacuated, Tower 24's master stream was placed into service to knock the bulk of the fire. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked, crews were ordered back inside the building to extinguish remaining hot spots and perform overhaul operations.
Kennett's Tanker 24 and fire police also responded to the call.
Crews continued to operate until the last units cleared the scene around 1:00am.
