As usual the rains came for the annual Relay for Life and as usual the participants refused to let a little rain get them down. Although the rain kept many people away overnight the event was still a success for cancer survivors and their supporters. Since the Kennett-Unionville area Relay started around 6 years ago Kennett Fire Co. members have prepared and served breakfast for all who participate in the event. Our biggest supporter financially over the years has been Jack Singer whose wife Anne did not survive her bout with cancer. Jack is also President of Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company and an avid supporter of many community causes. This year contributions were also secured from Mr. and Mrs. Bob Pierson and Mr. and Mrs. Rich Pesce. Even with the bad weather breakfast was served to 275 participants. Work started in the Kitchen at 3AM with breakfast served at the Unionville High School at 6:30 and cleanup finished at 10:00AM. Thanx to everyone who helped with this worthy project. Kennett Fire Co. has received recognition from the American Cancer Society for this unique addition to the local Relay for Life.
